The GDF Suez Neptune LNG deepwater port facility, 16 km (10 miles) offshore Gloucester, Massachusetts, consists of two subsurface buoys connected to a subsea pipeline via a flexible riser. The system allows LNG volumes to be offloaded from a ship in a regasified state, rather than in a liquid form as is the case in conventional ship to regas terminal transfer.
