In April 2017, Qatar announced it was lifting the moratorium on new North Field developments, which had been in place since 2005. Initially a 2 bcfd project was proposed, but this was soon replaced with a 4.5 bcfd upstream development. This will allow Qatar to increase its LNG export capacity from 77 to 110 mmtpa, coming onstream between 2023 and 2025. The expansion will involve the installation of new liquefaction capacity, and we assume four megatrains of 8 mmtpa capacity will be built. ...
