The proposed expansion will add a third train to the existing integrated Sakhalin-2 project, which is located on Sakhalin Island off Russia's Pacific coastline, to the north of Japan. It is assumed that the additional train will source gas from the Sakhalin-1 Area fields. Hydrocarbons will be piped to the existing Sakhalin-2 LNG plant and liquids export facilities via two 800-kilometre export pipelines.
