Report summaryThe Scarborough gas field is located 270 kilometres off the northwest coast of Western Australia, in water depths of over 900 metres. Scarborough gas is dry with almost no liquids content. The remoteness of the field, the water depth and lack of liquids revenue make the development technically and commercially difficult, despite the considerable gas reserves. Several development concepts have been proposed for Scarborough, but in March 2013 the operator, ExxonMobil, submitted an environmental referral to commercialise the field by deploying an FLNG vessel.
