Spain currently has six regas terminals and Enagás recently finished constructing a seventh terminal at El Musel in Asturias, northern Spain. The project was expected to be operational by 2013, but the terminal was mothballed upon completion due to depressed gas demand in Spain. Two LNG terminals have been proposed for the Canary Islands, although little progress has been made on these terminals over the last few years.
