Turkey proposed LNG regas projects

Report summary

In April 2017 the Turkish government announced that it planned to commission a third FSRU that would be positioned in the Gulf of Saros, off the coast of the Gallipoli Peninsula in North West Turkey. Turkey currently has four operational LNG terminals, two onshore facilities and two Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU). Three of which are located in the North West of the country and one in the South East. Turkey has pushed to increase import capacity to ensure gas shortages can be avoided. FSRUs will enhance security and reliability of supply against pipeline gas bottlenecks and disruptions. They will also provide additional seasonal flexibility when gas demand is peaking.
