There are three operational LNG terminals in the UK (after Teesside GasPort was decommissioned in 2015) with around 5,000 mmcfd (~52 bcm) of regas capacity. There are a number of proposals to develop new terminals, but with the exception of Port Meridian, none have made progress in recent years. Although LNG imports are expected to rise as domestic production declines, new capacity could come from expanding existing terminals rather than developing new facilities.
