Albania economic outlook Q1 2014

Albania economic outlook Q1 2014

Report summary

Since the end of the communist era in 1992, Albania has had a challenging transition towards a market economy. Economic growth was strong last decade with annual GDP growth averaging 5.6% between 2000 and 2009. However, growth is from a low base and Albania remains one of the poorest countries in Europe. Long-term growth potential is robust as there is significant scope for economic ‘catch-up’.
