Global Trends Signpost Tracker: corporate response to carbon policy

Report summary

Major announcements on global carbon policy raise huge questions for the energy industry. Over the past few weeks, the number of governments pledging UN emissions targets has doubled to over 150 countries. These commitments cover a massive 80% of energy-related CO2 emissions. Energy companies are under increasing pressure from governments, investors and even other energy players. In the last Signpost Tracker: CO2 Emissions, we looked at the potential implications from carbon policy developments on the global energy outlook. In this issue, we look at how corporates are responding. Companies right across the energy value chain are having their say, ahead of the UN Climate Conference in December.
