Guyana risk profile

Report summary

Guyana enters a new chapter in its development following a hydrocarbons discovery in 2015. Major challenges in Guyana include the lack of infrastructure and an embryonic supply chain. Labour activism is not uncommon and extractive industries, such as gold mining, have been the target of civil protests. The discovery has reignited a territorial claim by Venezuela. With fiscal terms lenient, there is a possibility that future taxation rises.
