Madagascar emerged from a five year political crisis in January 2014 and is attempting to attract investment into the hydrocarbons sector. The world's most coup prone nation Madagascar's political situation remains tense between different factions. A 2011 attempted expropriation deterred investors who await new oil regulations that are expected to introduce an NOC and environmental rules in late 2015. The frontier country has zero infrastructure nor gas market access.
