Mexico long-term economic outlook Q2 2014

Mexico long-term economic outlook Q2 2014

Report summary

Despite numerous free-trade agreements and robust demand for Mexican exports from the USA, Mexico's long-term growth outlook is modest. This is the result of a lack of competition in key industries, poor educational standards and declining oil and gas production. A series of recent reforms planned by the government could yield significant improvements in all these areas, boosting economic growth, but it is too soon to say how swiftly and effectively the reform policies will be implemented.
