South Sudan risk profile

South Sudan risk profile

Report summary

Inter-ethnic conflict has engulfed the oil-producing region of South Sudan since December 2013 and will not end in the near-term. Production has been severely affected, with most foreign workers evacuated. Even in the event of a successful peace deal, oil companies are still likely to be targeted in inter-ethnic violence and civil unrest in the medium-term. Export pipelines are in place, but they are subject to political interference from both from within  the country and from neighbouring Sudan
