Venezuela's opposition wins 2/3s majority in National Assembly
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Venezuela's opposition alliance, the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) won National Assembly elections that took place on 6 December. Though the victory is welcome, and could be the first step in a gradual transition away from Chavismo's hostile economic policies, it is not expected to lead to any improvements in the country's upstream sector in the near term. Even though the opposition won a two-thirds majority, it faces an uphill battle ahead.
