African Copperbelt: mining research trip
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Despite the Zambian and Congolese copper deposits forming in similar environments, significant differences exist in their costs of extraction: we forecast the C1 cost difference between these countries at 43 c/lb in 2015, and widening to approximately 50 c/lb by 2020. We have just returned from a number of mine site visits in the DRC and Zambia and share some initial thoughts on themes affecting the cost structure of the Copperbelt.
