Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) is owned 69% by the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Bahrain sovereign wealth fund) 21% by Saudi Basic Industries Company (SABIC), and 10% by the general public. The Alba smelter at Knuff started primary production in 1971 with an initial capacity of 120ktpa. In June 2015, the Board approved the Line six project, which includes a new 540 ktpa potline and a 1790MW power plant, both would be fully commissioned in 2019. The Company is conducting a pre-feasibility study for Line 7 expansion.
