The Asanko project was derived from the combination of two standalone (Obotan & Esaase) projects. The Obotan deposit will be developed as Phase 1 while the Esaase deposit will be developed as Phase 2. Both deposits will be mined by open pit methods. Ore from Esaase will be transported 30km by overland conveyor to a carbon in leach plant at Obotan. Mine life is estimated at 12.5 years with average annual gold production estimated at 190koz in the first two years (Obotan) and 411koz from 2018 onwards. Commercial production (Phase 1) was declared in April 2016.
