Report summary

Empire State Mines (Balmat) is located within St. Lawrence County, New York approximately 25 miles south of the St. Lawrence River and the Canadian border. Operations ceased in August 2008 and the mine and mill were put on care and maintenance. In November 2015, Star Mountain Resources had met all of the conditional requirements in the purchase agreements with Hudbay Minerals and Northern Zinc, thus acquiring Balmat. In January 2017, Titan Mining Corporation entirely purchased Balmat through its wholly subsidiary St. Lawrence Zinc Company. Consequently, Balmat was renamed Empire State Mines. The mill has been kept in good condition and the mine remains easily accessible, it is assumed in the following profile that the mine re-opens in 2019.
