Report summary

Christmas Creek is a large capacity surface mine in Western Australia's Pilbara iron ore province and one of Fortescue's two operating mines that make up the Chichester Hub the other mine is Cloudbreak. Christmas Creek produces 55Mtpa of beneficiated iron ore fines. Cash costs have fallen substantially over the past four years because of the weaker Australian dollar lower oil prices and improvements to the wet ore processing facilities. The processing improvements has enabled Christmas Creek to mine and process lower grade ore without affecting product quality which has improved the mine's efficiency.
