Cloudbreak iron ore mine

Report summary

Cloudbreak is a large capacity surface mine in Western Australia's Pilbara iron ore province producing 36Mtpa of iron ore fines. It is one of Fortescue's two operating mines that make up the Chichester Hub - the other mine is Christmas Creek. Cloudbreak is Fortescue's oldest and highest cost mine - although still a low cost supplier to the seaborne market. Costs are higher than Fortescue's other operations because it has the lowest mass recovery, longest raw haul distance and is mining below the water table. FMG will be testing a 5km relocatable conveyor at the site later in 2018.
