Report summary

This insight takes a focused look on operational, project and corporate activities on a company-by-company basis and as well as how each company compares against its peer group regards to reserves, production and C1 cash costs. The top ten ranking copper producing companies in 2020 produced 8.8 million tonnes of copper equivalent, accounting for 50% of the costed copper production. Global average C1 copper costs in 2020 were 117 c/lb, 2% higher than the top ten ranking producers' average C1 costs at 115 c/lb. Global C1 costs are forecast to increase in 2021 by 3% to 120 c/lb, while the top ten ranking producers' average C1 costs are set to increase by 5% to 121 c/lb.
