Report summaryCubatao began production in 1963 under the company name Cosipa. In 2005 Cosipa became a wholly owned subsidiary of Usiminas and the plant became known as Usiminas Cosipa. On 1 May 2009 the plant was officially renamed Cubatao by Usiminas and Cubatao and Ipatinga began to operate under one umbrella. In late 2015, Usiminas announced that it will temporarily shut Cubatao's sinter and coke plants, blast furnaces (of which one was shut in May 2015) and steelworks. We assume the shutdown will last three months but because of the weak steel market it could last longer.
