Report summary

Essar Steel Minnesota was intended to be a surface mine project located in Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range near Nashwauk, Minnesota. After missing a 1 July 2016 deadline to pay the state and creditors for completed infrastructure, the State Governor terminated Essar Steel's mineral leases on the Iron Range, prompting the company to file for bankruptcy. Development work on the project had been suspended since January 2016 and we do not expect it to restart.
