Report summaryJFE Steel West Japan Works in Fukuyama is the country's largest plant capable of producing 11.4 Mtpa of crude steel. The West Japan Works arose out of the consolidation in 2003 of Kawasaki Steel's Kurashiki plant and NKK's Fukuyama site. Analysis of the Kurashiki plant is included in a separate profile note. The Fukuyama plant is a producer of both flat and long products, with its portfolio including hot and cold rolled coils, galvanised steel products, large shapes, plate and welding pipe. The site includes four blast furnaces of which three are currently in operation (the No.2 furnace is idle).
