Commodity Market Report
Global lead short-term outlook April 2020
Report summary
Lead struggled to do more than obediently track the dollar rate during April and ended the month as the worst price-performer. The coronavirus dictated the direction and sentiments of markets, but with a seemingly unstoppable fall into global recession. Even the genuine potential for short-term refined lead tightness failed to bring lead's fundamentals to the fore as downside risk preoccupied market opinion. Mine production still suffered from the infection as many production curtailments were extended into May, even as others started to be eased. Tightness in mine supply could still prove to be a major short-term factor in supporting price and holding down TCs.
