Commodity Market Report
Global lead short-term outlook August 2019
Report summary
Port Pirie has again been the focal point of both refined and concentrate market developments in August. In contrast to weak sentiment in respect to refined demand, LME lead prices are again being supported by the loss of refined supply from Port Pirie. The SHFE/LME arbitrage has been kept firmly shut as a result. This, perhaps just as much as the displaced concentrate resulting from Port Pirie's continuing outage, has finally contributed to a decisive increase in spot TCs in China for imported concentrate.
