Report summary

Nickel market sentiment takes a downturn. On 11 January Indonesia relaxed the ban on nickel ore exports. Consequently renewed flow of ore between Indonesia and China will boost production of Chinese NPI. The increase in combined NPI output to record levels from this year will be negative for nickel prices. At the same time there are growing risks to the main driver of nickel demand: Chinese stainless.
