Commodity Market Report
Global nickel short-term outlook September 2021
Report summary
After reaching a peak for the year in early September, nickel prices went into retreat as power restrictions forced China’s stainless mills and NPI smelters to cut production. As the net loss in nickel demand outweighs the drop in smelter output, China's currently tight nickel market should ease. Power curbs will extend into Q4 so nickel prices may drift lower over the rest of the year. But they will bounce back in 2022.
