Global zinc short-term outlook October 2016

Global zinc short-term outlook October 2016

Report summary

Further tightening of the concentrate market was evident from spot treatment charges which moved sharply lower in October, with a $55-85/t trading range reported and we have set an indicative China spot TC of $70/t flat.

Although there has been some price volatility this month, the market does seem to be setting a floor price for zinc around $2200/t. The price has now managed to remain above this level since the beginning of August. This price strength is despite exchange stocks moving up including a 16kt inflow of metal into the LME's New Orleans warehouses.
