Hamersley - Marandoo iron ore mine

Report summary

Marandoo is part of Rio Tinto's wholly owned Hamersley group of operations, located 37 kilometres east of Tom Price and 77 kilometres north-east of Paraburdoo. The mine is located in an environmentally sensitive region, bounded on three sides by the Karijini National Park. It is a mid-sized mine producing 16Mtpa. Costs at Marandoo are higher than other Rio Tinto mines because it is operating below the water table and uses wet processing.
