Huludao (VR) zinc smelter
The Japanese established the Huludao Vertical Retort (VR) smelter in 1937 with a capacity of 10kt/a zinc and 15kt/a sulphuric acid. Following the establishment of the PRC in 1950 the plant was expanded to the present quoted vertical retort capacity of 210kt/a. Estimated actual capacity is slightly higher at 226kt/a slab zinc.
