Report summary
Hydro Aluminium was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 2007. At that time the company was competitive in the primary aluminium and downstream markets but short in upstream raw materials. The transformation in February 2011 when Hydro acquired the majority of Vale's bauxite, and all of its alumina and aluminium assets, was a turning point. Hydro has stakes in two bauxite assets, one alumina refinery and ten smelters.
