Itabira - Caue iron ore mine

Report summary

Caue is located on the north-east side of Vale's Itabira complex, located in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The operation consists of the Minas do Meio mine, the Caue processing plant and the now-depleted Caue mine. With the implementation of a new processing plant and increasing production of lower-grade itabirite ores, processing costs at the mine have increased over the last few years. Despite this, Caue's average total cash cost positions it in the first quartile of our global cost curve.
