Kings iron ore mine

Report summary

Kings is Fortescue Metal Group's (FMG) fourth mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is one of two mines that make up the Solomon Hub, Firetail is the other mine. The mine was officially opened in March 2014 and has a production capacity of 45Mtpa. Cash costs at Kings have fallen dramatically since 2013 because of improvements to its wet ore processing facility, increased volumes, decline in the Australian dollar, and lower diesel prices.
