Report summaryJFE Steel West Japan Works in Kurashiki is the country's second largest steel plant with a crude steel capacity of 11.1 Mtpa. The West Japan Works arose out of the consolidation in 2003 of Kawasaki Steel's Kurashiki plant and NKK's Fukuyama steel works. Analysis for the Fukuyama plant is included in a separate profile note. Kurashiki produces a mix of flat rolled steels and long products including: hot and cold rolled coils, galvanised sheet, coated sheets and electrical sheets; plate; and a range of medium and large sections and steel bars.
