The Meliadine project comprises 1 underground and 2 open-pit deposits. Ore will be processed by crushing, grinding and gravity separation, with cyanide leaching in a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit. In 2016, an internal study was initiated to improve project economics and a phased project development option was selected. Ore is to be sourced from the underground mine under Phase 1, with mill capacity set at 3.75kt/d. In year 5, ore will be sourced from open-pit and underground targets with mill capacity increased to 6kt/d (Phase 2). Mine life is estimated at 14 years with average annual gold production of 400koz/a (between years 2 - 14). Based on the pace of project development to date, production is expected to commence in Q2 2019.
