Report summaryMerian is the largest greenfield gold project commissioned since the end of the gold bull run in late-2012. The project is being developed as 75:25 joint venture between Newmont and the Government of Suriname. Production is expected to commence in late 2016 (Newmont estimates) but Wood Mackenzie has assumed a commercial start-up date of 2017 in the accompanying analysis. Average annual gold production is estimated at 340koz over the life of mine (440koz/a in the first 5 years).
