Minas Centrais - Agua Limpa iron ore mine

Report summary

Agua Limpa is a surface mine on the east side of Vale's Minas Centrais complex, located in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The mine started operating in 1961 under the ownership and management of S.A. Mineracao da Trindade (Samitri). 2017 was Agua Limpa's last year of operation. The mine had the lowest raw ore grade among all Vale's mines. This caused the operation to have comparatively higher processing costs for the company.
