Report summary

Brucutu is a large surface mine in Vale's Minas Centrais complex, located in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The initial mining concession was issued in 1972 to the Caemi Group. Vale acquired the mine in 1992 from Mineracao Igapora who started operating the mine in 1985. Brucutu is Vale's largest mine outside the Northern System with a total cash cost that positions it in the first quartile of our global cost curve.
