Minas Centrais - Gongo Soco iron ore mine

Report summary

Gongo Soco is a surface mine on the west side of the Minas Centrais Complex, located in the Iron Quadrangle region of Minas Gerais, Brazil.  The mine first started production in 1935 and Vale gained full ownership of the mine in 2000 when it acquired Mineracao Socoimex S.A.  (Socoimex) for US$55 million. The mine was closed in 2014.
