The Mirador project started in 2019 and was the first large scale open pit mining operation in Ecuador. The concentrator capacity is 60kt/d ore (two lines of 30kt/d ore). Construction of the project started on December 21st 2015 and the commissioning started in July 2019 with 30kt/d ore. By September 2021 the concentrator was being operated below its nominal capacity. This project is located in the Zamora Chinchipe province, the El Panqui canton. The copper concentrate is expected to be exported through the Guayaquil port located 370km away.
