Paraopeba - Jangada iron ore mine

Report summary

Jangada is a mid-sized surface iron ore mine part of Vale's Paraopeba complex, ultimately falling under Vale's Southern System. Mining at Jangada commenced in 2001 and Vale owns 100% of the mine through its subsidiary Minerações Brasileiras Reunidas S.A. (MBR). Vale is scaling back production at some of its less-efficient, higher-cost mines in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) region as it switches output to more profitable operations. As a result, Jangada's output will fall 2018.
