The Polyus Gold alluvial operations include a number of deposits in the basin of the Lena river, situated in the Irkutsk region of Eastern Siberia. Mining involves a combination of dredging and quarrying. Processing capacity is 9.8 million m3 and involves washing sands at grades of around 0.6g/m3 Au. Gold is recovered using gravimetric techniques. The operations have typically produced around 150 to 200koz annually for the past decade, however, the lower volumes of sand washed since 2017 have resulted in gold production dropping slightly below 150koz.
