The Polyus alluvial operations include a number of deposits in the Irkutsk region of Eastern Siberia. Mining involves a combination of dredging, draglines with bucket volumes of 6-20 cubic metres, 5 cubic metre mining shovels and a fleet over around two hundred bull dozers, dump trucks and sluice boxes. Processing capacity is 10 million cubic metres and involves washing sands at grades of around 0.6 g/cubic metre. Gold is recovered using gravimetric techniques. The operations have produced around 200koz/a for the past decade.
