Report summary

The smelter was originally constructed in 1956 to treat green feed using one reverberatory furnace and three Peirce Smith converters. During the late 1960s and early 1970s it was expanded to three reverberatory furnaces and six Peirce Smith converters. In 1974 a double train single contact acid plant was built to process gases from the converters.
