Report summary

The Santa Rita mine is located about 6km from the town of Ipiau (50,000 people). Mains power, water, sealed roads, accommodation, and engineering facilities are all within close proximity of the site. The Atlantic coast ports of Ilheus (143km) and Aratu (340km) are within reasonable trucking distance for shipping of concentrates. Aratu is fully equipped to handle the storage and loading of concentrates. From start up, nickel recovery was adversely impacted by the presence of chlorite throughout the orebody. In order to compensate for this the company installed additional milling capacity and a deslime circuit. This improved recovery but it remained well below feasibility study forecast levels. Operations ceased at the mine on February 19 2016 due to poor market conditions. It is currently on care and maintenance.
