Tucuma copper mine project

Report summary

Tucuma is located approximately 200 km from the Carajas Iron District. Project financing has been an issue in the past, but Glencore took a significant stake in the parent company in 2012 and internal financing was a possibility. By 2015 Mineracao Caraiba was planning to exploit this deposit through a conventional open pit mine and a 6.5kt/d (2.31Mt/a) crushing plant and a mill-flotation plant capacity of 1.5Mt/a. A pre-concentration via jigs is to be used to get rid of 800kt/a as waste.
