US hikes tariffs to 25% on Chinese goods: how will it affect copper?
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
The US government has decided to escalate tariffs on $200bn worth of Chinese imports from 10% to 25%, effective from 10th May 2019. This decision was made during the final days of the trade negotiations between China and the US. China issued a statement just after midday on the 10th May Beijing time, vowing to take necessary countermeasures. We believe that the tariff increase on Chinese goods poses downside risk to our total Chinese copper demand forecast for 2019.
