Varvara (Varvarinskoye) copper mine
Report summary
Varvarinskoye is an open-pit mine that was commissioned in Q4 2007 and has been in production since Q2 2008. It has excellent access to roads, railways and power lines which were present prior to mine development. The operation was acquired by OJSC Polymetal from Orsu Metals in November 2009 and has since been equipped with additional mine fleets to ramp up to its full ore processing capacity of 4.2Mt/a by mid-2012.
