Report summary

Wheelarra is part of BHP's Jimblebar mining hub which has been mined since 1989. Mining at Wheelarra commenced in 2004 with ore transported to Mt Whaleback for processing. Since the Jimblebar processing facility opened in Q3 2013 Wheelarra's ore has been blended and processed at the Jimblebar mine site.Ore from Wheelarra is conveyed 6 km to the Jimblebar processing hub where it undergoes primary and secondary crushing with ore from the Jimblebar mine. Production is expected to continue to increase at both sites until the tonnes mined from Wheelarra are the same as those mined from Jimblebar at 35 Mtpa each in 2020. This is key to BHP reaching its stated target of 290 Mtpa in that year.
