Operated by Deutsche Lithium GmbH, Zinnwald is a lithium mineral project located in Saxony, Germany. As a nod to the history of the area, in 1992 a visitor centre was established at the abandoned underground Zinnwald Mine, where lithium occurs in zinnwaldite within greisens in the Zinnwald Albite Granite. An updated feasibility study in 2020 supported the development of an underground mine and a processing plant to produce 5.1ktpy of battery grade lithium fluoride. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating several granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry-standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
